The LN-REACH Flame
LN-REACH Flame
The photo at left shows how the V-Jet oil atomizer provides radial and circumferential staging of the fuel. When combined with a specially designed flame stabilizer, very low NOx emissions are produced. Strong internal recirculation in the combustion zone ensures that all the fuel is burned and unburned carbon in the ash remains very low.
Low Investment Cost, Low Operating Cost

Low Investment Cost is accomplished by retaining as much as possible of the original burner and fuel atomization system (steam or mechanical). Typically, only the atomizers and flame stabilizers are replaced. Investment in more expensive and complex NOx reduction systems can often be reduced or avoided.

Low Operating Cost is obtained through increased combustion efficiency and reduced demand on other NOx reduction systems. By reducing NOx formation in the combustion zone, LN-REACH lowers FGR requirements for a given level of NOx reduction; and lowers demand for reducing agents in SCR and SNCR systems.

Typical Retrofit Project:

Site Inspection - In conjunction with plant personnel, pertinent design information is obtained and operating and performance improvement goals are defined..

Design and Fabrication - The flame stabilizer design is based on aerodynamic analysis of the burner. REACH oil atomizers are designed with consideration of the existing atomization method and the aerodynamics of the flame stabilizer. Oil atomizers are tested in a spray laboratory to confirm that design specifications are met.

Installation - Plant personnel usually install REACH components during a scheduled maintenance outage.

Start-up - Performance and Environmental Solutions provides on-site technical support, including optimization of the burner settings and evaluation of combustion system operation and boiler control.

Testing - Emissions testing to verify REACH performance or determine optimum combinations of operating parameters may be performed as part of a REACH retrofit.
