Research and Development

As a company singularly focused on combustion solutions, Coen commits tremendous resources to combustion R&D. Our principle for success has always been to define combustion technology for the future. Through this commitment, we continue to lead the way with our ultra low emission designs and innovative environmental solutions. From short-term consulting to major developmental projects, Coen has the expertise to provide the right combustion solution for your specific application. No one else is more qualified, because no one else is as committed to combustion innovation and powerful results.

Visit the areas below to find out more about our R&D commitment.

Computer Modeling
Computer modeling at Coen is used to supplement our many years of design experience. Modeling has proven to be a valuable research tool because an accurate model can give far more detailed information about a flow field than testing can--often at a fraction of the cost. Coen R&D uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to render representations of flow fields based on the flow and heat transfer boundary conditions. CFD can be used to evaluate air flow and combustion processes for gas, oil, and coal burners.

Electronics Development Lab
A fully equipped Electronics Development Laboratory supports the efforts of Coen’s R&D engineering staff to develop fuel combustion oriented electronic products. Here, state-of-the-art tests and electronic measuring equipment are used to conduct experiments, evaluate equipment designs, and perform design qualification tests on pre-production prototype hardware.

R&D Publications
The Coen R&D Department publishes technical papers and articles from time to time. All papers listed here include their abstracts, and some of the complete documents are available for download in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
